LOL. The funny thing was, I prompted a very similar idea on round... 11, I think, of the kink meme even as I was writing my own, for the very simple reason that I am a little sick of that trope. I like it but... There is too much of it. I actually was immediately struck with the idea of Eames being the one likely to break Arthur's heart - that was in the first Inception fic I ever did, before I was deep in the fandom, and seeing it almost always be Arthur doing the breaking bewilders me still. The funny part with the condescension line, I got the impression Arthur was being sincere - mostly, anyway. Maybe some surprise, but... *shrugs*
Eames caught Arthur sitting at the same outdoor table where I sat with my friends and had lunch the day we went. It was fun.
Just because we create the fics doesn't mean they play nice. Trust me on that one.
